ARIA Project: Anti-Aβ immunotherapies for the treatment of Alzheimer's Disease cause high rates of amyloid related imaging abnormalities (ARIA), particularly in individuals carrying one or two APOE4 alleles. We are using mouse models of AD to investigate the mechanism of ARIA and its high rates in APOE4 individuals with the ultimate goal of understanding the pathways and mechanisms that cause ARIA. These include, but are not limited to: studies of neuroinflammation, cerebral amyloid angiopathy, and vascular damages.
Chemobrain Project: Many cancer survivors experience cognitive problems, know colloquially as "chemobrain." We are using mouse models of cancer and chemotherapy to examine the effects on neuronal functions, glial inflammation, and vascular damages. Our goal is to discover approaches to mitigating or preventing this serious impairment.
